Career Choice vs. Personality Type

When choosing what profession you want to pursue, your personality type matters. This is so because you will spend most of your waking hours in your profession, and a mismatch between the person you are and the work you do may mean unfulfilling activities, work related stress, and stunted professional development.

Man-Task interference needs to be constructive. When you choose a career that you are well adapted to, it becomes less challenging, and even better, enjoyable to advance. Your psychological make-up therefore needs to be checked before you decide what kind of professional make-up you are going to apply.

Different personality types crave for different things. Extroverts may generally crave for social interactions while introverts crave for their quite personal space. Choosing a profession that feeds your internal interests therefore energizes you, while choosing a career that doesn’t match your inner passions drains you of creative juices, and that is what leads to stunted professional growth.

The best career is one where passion meets professionalism. What you are passionate about might be traced to your personality

Several tests have been developed to help individuals know their ideal jobs and favorable work environments. My best has so far been the Carl Jung's and Isabel Briggs Myers' test complete with possible career paths. I encourage you to check it out
